You probably know that you and the others in your household should drink more water. However, you might have never really put any thought into why your family doesn't drink as much water as it should. These are three possible reasons why -- and a few tips to make changes.
1. It Doesn't Taste Good
If your water doesn't taste good, you probably aren't going to drink it. Even if your water tastes normal to you, it might not taste good to your kids, who can have more sensitive palates. Either way, making your water taste better can be a good idea if you want to encourage your family to drink it more often. Installing a whole-house water filtration system is a great way to improve the overall taste of your water, so it's a smart investment. Keeping fresh fruit on hand to add to your water is a good idea, too -- let your kids try different fruits like lemons, limes, strawberries and other fresh fruits to determine their favorite flavor.
2. It Isn't Made Easy Enough
If it isn't made easy for you to drink water, you might go for something else. The same is true for your kids. Try keeping reusable water bottles for each of your family members in the refrigerator, fully filled up, so that you and your loved ones can grab a water bottle whenever you want one. It's also important to keep cups in a place where your kids can easily get to them if they want to prepare a glass of water. Make drinking water easy, and make it a little harder to drink soda and other unhealthy drinks by keeping them out of the house.
3. There Isn't Enough Focus on the Importance of Drinking Plenty of Water
If your kids have never been taught about the importance of drinking water, they won't take it seriously. Likewise, if you and your spouse or roommate are always drinking sodas and are avoiding drinking water, you probably won't see the big deal about doing so. Sit down with your loved ones, do your research and let everyone know just how beneficial it can be to drink more water. Then, you can set a positive example for one another to encourage it in the future.
You might know why drinking water is important, but you might have never focused on it. By deciding why you and your loved ones aren't drinking as much water as you should be, you can then take the right steps going forward. After saving money for years, I was finally ready to build my dream home with a team of professional contractors. I started by talking with the team about what I wanted, and then we moved forward with our plans. It was really incredible to see the things that I wanted come to life, and within a few months, my home was underway. I can honestly say that I was incredibly pleased with our construction team, and I couldn't have done it without them.
